From a grilled cheese sandwich bearing the image of the Virgin Mary to rare antique furniture, you can find almost anything on eBay Inc. And I mean anything. For the right price, the unincorporated town of Albert can be yours.
The Associated Press reported last month, Bobby Cave, owner of the 13-acre Texas town, was selling his property on the online auction site eBay Inc. Since purchasing the property in 2003, Mr. Cave has poured “hundreds of thousands of dollars into cleaning up and restoring the area.”In an interview with me today, Mr. Cave said he is ready to move on and feels that Albert has much more potential for growth.
"I think someone else can really turn this town into a great tourist destination with different stores and a nice bed and breakfast," Cave said.
Albert Texas might not be a booming metropolis, but this quaint country town, just 50 miles north of San Antonio, has its own ice house and beer garden, an 85-year-old dance hall, three-bedroom house, and pecan and peach orchards.
If you’ve dreamt of settling down in a quiet country town, Albert is the place.
Population of the town— zero.
Finding the Texas property on eBay may be a little tricky. You will need to go to eBay and search for item number 120175767867.
The town is also advertised to be sold on Mr. Cave's Website at AlbertTexas.com, where both he and his colisting agent, Eric Meissner, can be contacted.
