Springfield Metro and Neighborhood Information
The new claim to fame in Springfield, VT was the movie premier of The Simpsons Movie in July 2007. Competing against 13 other Springfield cities in the U.S., the residents of Springfield, VT entered a competition and put together a winning movie clip to gain them national recognition and instant fame.
Now residents have the opportunity to show off their other assets as well. As one of Vermont’s largest towns, Springfield offers a wide variety of pleasures to its inhabitants. You can view the permanent art exhibit of antique toys at the Miller Art Center, attend the annual Vermont Apple Festival and Craft Show or visit the Eureka Schoolhouse, which is Vermont’s oldest one-room house built in 1785. The Fort at Number 4 was built 250 years ago during the French and Indian War. Today the Fort has been restored to its original state with volunteers wearing the same clothing worn by the original inhabitants and teaching visitors what life was like on the frontier. Another landmark is the headquarters of the Springfield Telescope Makers club which is the oldest amateur telescope-makers’ club in the US.
